She's lefthanded!

.

See?
Dar was amaaaaaaaaazing (naturally). Me and Father went to a folkie show with Jeffrey Foulcoult, Caroline Herring and Darling Dar (as them Nields always call her in the booklets). Father bought a Jeffrey cd and I made him buy me My Better Self again cause I forgot to bring anything to sign and he's been using mine since the dawn of time so the paper cover has gotten a bit damaged. I liked the North American version better though, they switched the pics around here.
She played a whole bunch of songs (unfortunately not our request, but hey), starting with 'when I was a boy' and finishing with 'the ocean'. I'm not going to bother listing all songs, for you won't know 'm anyways, but suffice to say she didn't play all the regulars, 'Febuary' was really beautiful, I heard 'the Hudson' twice life which is quite unusual and she just told lots and lots of stories. The stories are almost the best part of Dar life. Besides her angelic voice she's really genuinely funny, and she had a lovely way of expressing herself. We got to know that 'the Blue light of the Flame' was for singer Rachel Bissex, for whom I saw a tribute show at Falcon Ridge last year. She died of breast cancer and Dar was telling how she was from Vermont and how when they'd meet they somehow always ended up naked together. It was really funny.
And then I got to meet Dar. Jeeeeeeeeej!!!!!!!! Dar! So I was waiting for some other people to be in pics with her and have stuff signed (including the lady above, who had some interesting special edition, I believe it was from The Green World), and then I asked if I could be in a picture with her too (ever the polite one). So she said of course, noticed my pentacle and said: 'Aw, I'm sorry I didn't play that one!' So I grinned and said 'That's ok, I wanted you to play Better Things though' (I ought to have said: 'I've heard you play that three times already', but oh well). Then Father took a picture but I wasn't smiling so I made him do it again and that turned out really lovely (yes I'm getting an enlarged print). Then I told Dar how I had meant to bring my This Town is Wrong cd and have her sign that but forgot it, because of that song with the Dad and teenaged daughter and the Dar concert (yeah I forgot what the song was called) - but she got what I was saying and said: 'Oh Yeah! You know, I didn't even know that until I read the booklet?!' So she asked me my name and wrote: To Rose, best wishes, Dar (funny smiley line).
Jay!
